Twenty one year old Swords driver Robert Barrable had a great day on Sunday when he won the historic Leinster Trophy race at Mondello Park and also clinched the Irish Formula Ford 1600 Championship. In pouring rain, he opened out a huge lead in the feature race, beating runner up Paul Dagg by almost twenty seconds at the chequered flag.
His main rival, Patrick McKenna, who won Saturday's race, slid off the track at the first corner and was an instant retirement, while Peter Barrable, the older brother of the winner, battled with Dagg for second place but had to settle for third at the finish.
