Since the expiry of the 1986 clothing standard both two and three layer suits are acceptable for all Motorsport Ireland permitted events.  These suits must be homologated to the FIA 8856-2000 standard.  Flame retardant underwear, socks, boots, balaclavas and gloves (for drivers) also homologated to the FIA 8856-2000 standard must be worn regardless of the number of suit layers.
