Dubliner Neville Smyth won Northern Ireland's principal Formula Ford 1600
race of the year, the Martin Donnelly Memorial Trophy, at Kirkistown when
he finished well clear of Ivor McCullough, also setting the fastest lap of
the race. Earlier, he had won his qualifying heat.

Ray Moore beat Daniel Polley in the Formula Vee Final, while father and son
Dan and Stephen Daly continued the southern domination by winning the two
Formula Libre races, with Adam MacAulay winning the Vee Qualifying race.
