News from the Weekend

The Cork-Kerry combination of Denis Moynihan and Ger Conway led the Killarney Rentokil Initial Historic Rally for all but the first of the eight stages, and held a narrow lead of eleven seconds at the finish over another Cork-Kerry pairing, Mark Falvey and Diarmuid Lynch.

Both crews drove Ford Escorts, and while Falvey set the early pace over the opening, world famous stage at Moll's Gap on the main Killarney-Kenmare road, he couldn't keep it up, although he was always within range to mount a challenge if Moynihan had had any problems.

Dave Pritchard and Emyr Hall were the top British crew in third place overall, in yet another Escort. Former Billy Coleman Award winner Rob Duggan came out best in the Modified section, co-driven by his sister Tara, 25 seconds ahead of Cavan's Gary Kiernan.
