IDS Laser Laois Forestry Rally spotlight on young female driver Furlong

The countdown is on to the IDS Laser Laois Forestry Rally 2026 on Sunday, 4 October, the next round of the Trailer Parts & Spares Irish Forest Rally Championship.

Ahead of the rally, we’re putting the spotlight on one of the young female drivers taking on the challenge- Katelyn Furlong. 

Katelyn, from New Ross, joined Laois Rallysport Club Secretary Paul Downey at the rally launch on 12 September, where she spoke about her experiences as she continues her development in the J1000 category. For Katelyn, the Laois Forest Rally will provide another opportunity to gain valuable experience on gravel and continue building her skills in the sport.

It was fantastic to see a strong female presence at the rally launch, including Ann Hutchinson, who has made outstanding contributions to Laois Rallysport Club and Irish rallying in a wide range of roles from competing and marshalling to timing, event secretary duties and the 00 safety car. Ann was recognised as Laois Rallysport Club’s Club Person of the Year 2025.
