Denning steps up to GT3 competition in Italian GT Endurance with Lamborghini machinery
Irish motorsport talent Alex Denning is set to take a significant step forward in his career, graduating to the highly competitive Italian GT Endurance Championship for the upcoming season.
Denning will join Imperiale Racing, where he will compete behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo 2. The move marks an important progression into GT3 machinery, widely regarded as a key pathway within international endurance racing and another step closer to his Le Mans goal.
The step up follows a hugely successful 2025 season for Denning, in which he was crowned Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Pro Champion and became the first ever official Lamborghini Junior driver for Ireland. Competing against a strong international field he demonstrated impressive consistency, racecraft, and composure to win eight races, four second places and prove his worth as one of the most promising young drivers emerging from Ireland.
Denning’s rise through the motorsport ranks has been closely followed having previously been recognised as the 2022 Motorsport Ireland Young Driver of the Year. An accolade that highlights the most outstanding young talent in Irish motorsport. Since then, he has continued to build momentum on the international stage culminating in his championship-winning Super Trofeo campaign but we know there will be more achievements like this coming very soon.
Speaking ahead of his debut season in the Italian GT Endurance Championship, Denning said:
"I could not be more excited about this coming season. Competing in GT3 was always a childhood dream of mine so doing it with a manufacturer as prestigious as Lamborghini is very fitting. I want to thank Imperiale for this opportunity and all my incredible network of partners as we work towards the greater goal of Le Mans 2029."
Imperiale Racing is a prominent Italian GT racing team based in Modena, closely linked with Lamborghini Squadra Corse as a key competitor in GT World Challenge and Italian GT championships. Renowned for managing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 entries, the team is a consistent contender for podiums in both Sprint and Endurance series, known for detailed technical preparation and nurturing young talent. The team’s deep-routed heritage will provide Denning with an ideal platform to continue his development as he adapts to the demands of a GT3 car, including longer 3-hour race formats and multi-driver line-ups.
The Italian GT Endurance Championship is renowned for its highly competitive grids and challenging circuits, attracting top teams and drivers from across Europe. This year's collaboration with world-leading GT organiser SRO has attracted two additional manufacturers, many more factory drivers and ensures that BOP (Balance of Performance) will be conducted in line with the top standards. Denning’s entry into the series represents a major milestone, as he continues his progression towards the upper levels of international GT racing. With 35 cars on the grid there will be close racing at every round and Irish eyes will be watching and supporting the number 54 car piloted by Alex Denning.
Motorsport Ireland wishes Alex all the best in his 2026 season and onwards.
