Fionn McLaughlin wins in the Netherlands to extend British F4 lead
Red Bull Junior driver Fionn McLaughlin boosted his British F4 title hopes after a strong weekend at Zandvoort.
McLaughlin claimed pole position and won the final race of the weekend in the Netherlands.
The 17-year-old controlled the final race of the weekend despite a number of incidents and stoppages for crashes behind and he took the chequered flag for his third victory of the season.
The Northern Ireland driver also finished second in the opening race behind title, rival Martin Molnar, and was seventh in the reverse grid race.
He now leads by 28.5 points in the championship and also holds a commanding lead in the rookie standings.
17-year-old Fionn from Northern Ireland is part of the Red Bull Academy, having joined the programme in the summer of 2024 after a hugely competitive evaluation as one of 11 invited candidates from around the world.
He began karting at the age of five, and by the time he was seven he was competing in and winning various championships around Ireland. As a member of Red Bull’s junior driver programme, Fionn follows in the footsteps of Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz, and his own racing role model Sebastian Vettel.
