Katelyn Furlong making impressive strides in Irish motorsport
Junior rally driver Katelyn Furlong from New Ross, Co. Wexford, is continuing to make impressive strides in Irish motorsport as she builds her career in stage rallying.
Katelyn’s passion for rallying began at a very young age, growing up watching and supporting her father as he competed. Inspired by the sport from the outset, she began her own motorsport journey in karting with the Wexford Motor Club Youth Academy. From there, she progressed into rallying and now competes in the highly competitive J1000 category.
A proud member of Wexford Motor Club and Killarney & District Motor Club, Katelyn is also part of the KDMC2 Youth Programme, which continues to support and develop young motorsport talent.
Her rally debut came at the 2025 Carlow Forestry Rally, marking the beginning of a steep learning curve in her first full season of competition. It proved to be a valuable year of development and experience, culminating in an excellent result — third in class in the Suirway Group South East Stages Championship.
Katelyn has already had her first rally of the season having competed in the first round of the Trailer Parts & Spares Irish Forest Rally Championship at the Connacht Motor Club Yeats Ridge Forest Rally on Sunday 15th February
Looking ahead, she has an ambitious programme planned for the season, with the Motorsport Ireland Junior Rally Series (MIJRS), the Suirway Group South East Stages Championship, and the Trailer Parts & Spares Irish Forest Rally Championship all firmly in her sights.
With determination, talent and strong club support behind her, Katelyn Furlong is a young driver to watch as she continues her journey in Irish rallying.
