Last minute deal sees Max Hart on Macau World TCR Grid this weekend!

Motorsport Ireland Young Driver of The Year Max Hart has had a hectic week, to say the least. He was in Italy last week, where some drivers from his Malex Academy were testing GT4 cars before heading to Misano to see fellow Malex boss Alex Denning win the final two rounds of the Asian Lamborghini Super Trofeo series.

While at Misano, Max received an offer to return to the scene of one of his greatest triumphs, Macau, to compete in the finale of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour with the French SP Compétition squad. Having flown home to Ireland on Friday evening, Max spoke to his sponsors and negotiated with the team, before grabbing his race gear and flying out early on Monday morning.
Having done most of his recent TCR racing at the wheel of a Hyundai Elantra, Max will this time drive a 2025 CUPRA Leon VZ, alongside team mate Aurélien Comte. Having won there in 2023, Max is confident he can challenge for a top result, despite having not driven the CUPRA before.

Max Hart: "I got a call on Friday for a deal and ultimately we could not come to an agreement until Monday the 10th at 8am! I booked the next flight out today at 2pm, I’m extremely excited. This is a huge opportunity and could lead to something more concrete in 2026 with World TCR. My sponsors have all rallied around me to make this happen on such short notice.

I know Macau well enough after 2 years of driving there so hopefully learning the car won’t be too much trouble. We have practice on Thursday morning where I will get my first taste of the car. There is also rain due, which could help me!”

Max is a former winner at the famous Circuit, having taken victory there on his debut in 2023.
