McLaughlin takes his fourth win of the year
Hitech TGR’s Fionn McLaughlin claimed his fourth British F4 victory of the season at Knockhill last weekend, with team-mate Thomas Bearman completing a one-two finish. Fionn leaves Scotland with a championship lead, though his weekend ended in disappointment after accidental contact in the final race with his nearest title rival damaged his right-front wheel.
Fionn McLaughlin:
“Everything felt good in the car and, coming away with the win, I feel very happy. Obviously we didn’t win it on the road, but for a penalty in front. It’s another good haul of points and helps extend our championship lead.”
Red Bull Junior driver McLaughlin came together with Hungarian Martin Molnar in the closing stages of the third race at the Scottish circuit. McLaughlin was forced to retire from the race while Molnar was penalised for the incident.
The 17-year-old from Northern Ireland had won the opening race on Saturday for Hitech Racing and finished 10th in Sunday's second race.
After another strong weekend, McLaughlin leads by 40.5 points with three rounds remaining, and he also leads the rookie standings.
