Siobhan McCann Shines at Connacht Motor Club Tom Devaney Memorial Hillclimb
The Connacht Motor Club Tom Devaney Hillclimb took place over the weekend of Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th August, honouring the memory of long-time club member and passionate competitor Tom Devaney. Serving as the finale of the 2025 Irish Hillclimb Championship, the event attracted a strong entry with more than 45 finishers, with drivers tackling a demanding and technical course that tested skill, precision, and determination.
Siobhan McCann was the standout performer on Sunday, claiming the overall win. For the second day in a row, she showed exceptional form — having finished second on Saturday, missing out on the overall victory by just 0.75 seconds to Championship winner Billy White. On Sunday, she surged ahead to secure a clear win by nearly two seconds, driving her prized Ray 86 to triumph against a highly competitive field.
A passionate advocate for the Hillclimb discipline, Siobhan’s performance underscores that there are no gender barriers in motorsport — only talent, determination, and skill behind the wheel.
Caoimhe White also impressed throughout the weekend in Class 18 with her Fiat Seicento. After finishing 3rd in class on Saturday, she returned on Sunday to claim the top spot in the drier conditions, highlighting her consistency and adaptability.
Elaine Kirwan, driving her Toyota Starlet in Class 1A, delivered steady performances over both days. She finished 4th in class on Saturday before improving to 3rd on Sunday, demonstrating her determination and pace.
The Connacht Motor Club once again delivered a memorable event, celebrating competition, camaraderie, and the legacy of Tom Devaney, while providing a thrilling finale to the 2025 Irish Hillclimb Championship. Congratulations to Billy White 2025 Championship winner.
