McMahon Sisters Fly the Flag for Clare and Ireland at the Tillotson T4 Nations Cup in Spain
Sisters Éabha and Saoirse McMahon from Clare represented Ireland in the T4 Junior category at the Tillotson T4 Nations Cup 2025, held in Valencia, Spain, from October 1st to 5th.
The event marked their first-ever international race and an incredible opportunity to compete against a strong grid of four-stroke drivers from over 34 countries.
After a day of registration and setup, the sisters took to the track on Thursday. The Valencia circuit proved both fast and technical, featuring a mix of flat-out sections, chicanes, and slower corners. Qualifying and heats took place across Friday and Saturday, with the Drivers’ Parade on Friday evening being a memorable highlight.
On Sunday, they competed in the Super Heat, wrapping up an exciting week of racing. The event also marked their final race together in the same category — Saoirse remains in Juniors, while Éabha will move up to Seniors in 2026.
The experience was both challenging and rewarding, with larger grids, high temperatures, and intense competition. Both drivers returned home having gained valuable experience, new friendships, and fresh motivation for the season ahead.
“It was amazing to race abroad for the first time and to compete against so many talented drivers,” said Éabha. “We learned so much and can’t wait to use that experience next season.”
Saoirse added, “The atmosphere was incredible, especially seeing drivers from so many different countries. It was a great week and a huge learning experience for both of us.”
The McMahon sisters’ performance in Valencia was a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for Clare and Irish karting, showcasing their talent, dedication, and bright future in the sport.
