A trio of former Sexton Trophy Young Racing Driver of the Year winners had big weekends over the St. Patrick’s Day holidays, each in very different ways.

On the eve of International Women’s Day, Seattle-based DirtFish Rally School has announced the launch of its Women in Motorsport Driver programme, selecting Irish rally driver Aoife Raftery and American circuit racer Michele Abbate as its inaugural drivers.

The highly anticipated first round of the Dacia Sandero Challenge Cup took place last Sunday at the Midland Stages Rally, hosted by the Midland Motor Club.

Eighteen special stages form the itinerary across St. Patrick’s weekend with all of the major Rally 2 marques represented in the top ten.

After months of anticipation and build up, the Motorsport Ireland Junior Rally Series (MIJRS) class of 2025 finally engaged stage mode and set off on what is set to be an incredibly exciting season, and for Jack Kennedy and Cian Caldwell in particular the season opening Midland Stages Rally could not have gone better as they claimed victories in Class 2 & 2A and begin the campaign with maximum points.

Johnny McKenna and Donagh Kelly engage in a thrilling battle for the win, the the latter coming out on top after McKenna gets overly ambitious with some in stage cuts.

M-Sport Ford World Rally Team is excited to announce that Jon Armstrong, alongside new co-driver Shane Byrne, will take on the full 2025 FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) in a Ford Fiesta Rally2.

The 2025 Irish rally season, finally commenced with the Jeremy O’Connor Longford Arms Hotel Rally on Sunday. 

Organised by Midland Motor Club, a bumper entry of 165 cars took to the slippery, muddy stages around Longford town.
