National Autotesting goes to the Races!
The Motorsport Ireland National Autotest Championship and Challenge heads to the races this weekend for 2 days of competition at the historic Punchestown Racecourse, just outside Naas, Co. Kildare!
County Kildare Motor Club have pulled out all the stops for the only double header in the series with the fantastic venue, the Phillips family providing a BBQ to keep competitors, marshals, officials and helpers fed on both days, and even a "Cars and Coffee" style car show on Sunday! It's an event not to be missed for competitors or anyone looking to get started in Autotesting or motorsport in general, with CKMC members on hand all weekend if you would like to join the recently relaunched club!
Autotesting is one of the most accessible motorsports around; a test of driver agility and skill maneuvering cars around a course with both reverse and forwards sections, and the fastest time wins. Expect plenty of handbrake turns and spinning tyres! If you have a small hatchback or sportscar (no mods are required to compete), just drive to the event and have a day's fun in the roadgoing classes and drive home afterwards. All that is required is a basic Motorsport Ireland clubman licence (or any higher grade licence if you already compete in another discipline) and you could be on the start-line in a few days!
The top end of the competition has to be seen to be believed and these events have already attracted some of the top drivers in the country, as well as visiting drivers from Northern Ireland and Great Britain. There is ample parking at Punchestown, so why not make a day of it and take the whole family out, or just treat dad to an action packed Father's Day on Sunday!
Entries for the event are still open with full details available via irishautotesting.com and live timing both days available via StopAstride.com.
